Is the property secure?
Yes, the property is fully enclosed by 1.9m high deer fencing and is checked daily.
What happens when the weather is bad?
We have a purpose built shed that the dogs have access to in case of bad weather that we need to shelter from.
What if my dog gets hurt?
While we aim for this not to be the case, and we have strict measures in place to keep all dogs as safe as humanly possible. There is the chance that your dog may be injured as part of the normal "dogs' playing with dogs" scenario. If this happens, we have a qualified Vet Nurse on site to offer immediate first aid and we will take your dog to the nearest vet clinic to get veterinary care if required.
Do you separate big dogs and small dogs?
We want all dogs no matter their size to have the same enjoyment that the full 5 acres offers. We therefore have days that are specifically small dog only days. As part of our initial assessment with you we will determine which group your dog is best suited to.
Will my dog come home filthy?
No, If your dog makes use of the swimming hole or enjoys a good play in the mud, they will have a nice warm shower and towel dry before jumping into the van for the trip home.
Do you offer a pick-up/drop off service?
Yes we do.
We collect and drop off the dogs each day from designated areas. We are still in the process of working out where these will be. The website will be updated once confirmed.
We have a large air-conditioned van to transport the dogs to and from the farm. We can also arrange a door-to-door service by arrangement
What are the requirements for my dog being accepted?
While it is a lovely thought to send your dog to doggy daycare, not all dogs share this opinion. Just like not all people are "people people" not all dogs are "dog dogs".
Some dogs find the doggy day care environment rather stressful. Because of this we insist on a meet and greet appointment, for us to meet your dog and then we will monitor them very closely while with us on the farm for the first few weeks. It can take some dogs longer than others to settle in.
Your Dog/s must:
Be registered with your local council.
Fully vaccinated including Kennel Cough and Leptospirosis
De-sexed if over 8months old
Flea and worm treated, and
Microchipped
For the safety of all our dogs we cannot accept any dogs that:
Are not dog and human friendly
Have ever bitten or attacked another dog/human or livestock
Are notorious escape artists
Nip at other dogs when playing
Bark excessively
More information can be found in our terms and conditions below.
Why is a meet & greet assessment needed?
We aim to foster an environment where all dogs attending Farm Tails are kept safe. It is imperative that the dogs attending day care get on with other dogs and humans in order to achieve this. The meet and greet assessment is exactly that, we come to you, and introduce ourselves and get to know a little more about your dog. We are a family run business and want you to feel just as comfortable leaving your dog/s with us as we are having them as part of our family for the day.
Am I allowed to drop off and pick up my pet from the farm?
Unfortunately this is a firm NO.
We have been through a stringent consenting process with the Waikato District Council. One of the conditions we must meet is that no dogs are to be dropped off or picked up from the farm other than in the case of an emergency.
